The past 6 months has been extremely unstable for coffee buyers. The bulk of our coffee for the entire year has to be bought during the harvest season, the commodity index has soured, and the Au$ has plummeted. This has left us with the following options. We could drop the quality of what we buy and purchase cheaper coffees at the same price we were buying good coffee, or raise our prices. I'm sure as the general coffee drinking public would agree, we have to raise our prices. We are not a greedy company and I'm sure this can be seen in the price of our 1Kg coffee which is significantly cheaper than many similar quality coffees around. We will be raising the price of our 1Kg retail coffee beans by $5 effective Monday 16th March. I hope that the work of specialty coffee producers and roasters can withstand the tough times and we look forward to sharing a brew with you for another 7 years.
